Connected Health 2017 Recap

If we had to sum up this year’s Connected Health Conference in three words, it would be “health system innovation.” What an amazing showcase of hospital innovation groups and their work to advance health through technology. We heard form groups like Johns Hopkins, Mt. Sinai in NYC, Healthbox/Intermountain Healthcare, and of course, Partners Healthcare.

Here are a few highlights from the action-packed two day event:

Dr Krishnaj Gourab, co-founder of Rehap.Health, discussed how his experience participating in the Johns Hopkins Technology Innovation Center enabled him to turn his health innovation idea into reality.

John Brownstein (Advisor of dotHealth) presented on the value of population-level social media data in healthcare. Check out several of his projects: StreetRx and HealthMap

Brennan Spiegel shared video of real patients at Cedars-Sinai as they experienced virtual reality for the first time – and pain relief along with it. (Interested in learning more about clinical benefits of VR? Attend VirtualMedicine.health and check out Immersive.health

Besides the interesting presentations, we loved checking out companies showing off their new .health domain on the exhibit floor. (Pictured below is Rx.health co-founder Ashish Atreja with his team)

And of course, we had a blast with so many friends and partners at our Thursday night Happy Hour at locals’ favorite, Lucky’s Lounge. One thing was clear after attending Connected Health 2017: If you’re a health system and you aren’t innovating – developing new technology products on your own, and/or in collaboration with technology companies – you’re behind the curve! We’re honored to partner with so many startups and health systems as they work to advance health.
